In March, 2001, Jensen Construction Company was awarded a $28,446,000 project to construct the new Highway 59 bridge across he Arkansas River south of Sallisaw, Oklahoma.  The project included the construction of a 1880 foot long bridge with the associated approaches.  The bridge has seven piers supported on 9 foot and 12 foot diameter drilled shafts extending 86 foot below the water surface.  The superstructure has three concrete beam spans and a 1475 foot long (2ea @ 250'; 1ea @ 300'; 1ea @ 325'; and 1ea @ 350') continuous steel plate girder unit.  The project was successfully completed in 2004.
